Village of Melrose – Water System Improvements

Due to high levels of iron and manganese, the threat of surface contamination in their water supply and an undersized reservoir, the Village of Melrose initiated a project to investigate the design and construction of two new wells, a water treatment facility and an elevated steel reservoir.  The new water treatment facility was designed to remove iron and manganese at a maximum rate of 500 gpm, adequate to treat the two new wells.  The new elevated steel reservoir has a capacity of 150,000 gallons.  The project was awarded an $811,000 USDA – Rural Development grant.
