Frank J. Davy founded his engineering consultation firm in 1929, making ours one of the oldest and largest engineering firms in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. Initially focused on providing services to the City of La Crosse and surrounding communities, Davy Engineering now provides street, highway, bridge, sewer, and water system work for most of the state of Wisconsin.
Frank’s son, Philip S. Davy, joined the firm in 1938 and thus changed the company name to Frank J. Davy and Son. It was at this time the firm began to emphasize and specialize in water supply, water treatment, and wastewater collection services. Soon after in the 1940s, the firm was christened Davy Engineering Co., as it is still known as today.
Michael F. Davy, Philip’s son, joined the firm in 1969 following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, becoming the third generation of the Davy family to lead the firm.
In 1975, the company established Davy Laboratories to provide municipal and industrial clients with cost-effective analyses of their water supply and wastewater discharges. Since then, Davy Laboratories has worked in tandem with Davy Engineering, providing design support by evaluating the performance of water and wastewater treatment facilities and addressing water quality deficiencies.
In 1981, Michael’s brother Thomas H. Davy joined the firm as office manager until his retirement in 2014. Michael’s son Mark S. Davy became the fourth generation family member to join the firm in 1994. Mark joined at a project engineer after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with his degree in civil and environmental engineering.
For nearly 90 years, Davy Engineering Co. has and continues to provide engineering services in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Davy Laboratories has followed suit by offering water analysis services for over 40 years in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
